Our olive farm.
The Stella Maris Srl. was founded by three friends. We are a small (you could also say: tiny) agricultural enterprise with a handful of employees.
We cultivate an olive farm in the Parco Naturale di Porto Conte in Sardinia, an area with strict regulations to protect nature and the sea. Our farm is located near Alghero, the old, romantic port city in northwest Sardinia.
For a Fistful of Olives
Our goal is to produce outstanding olive oil as sustainably as possible while creating fairly-paid jobs. The olives come exclusively from our organically managed trees and are harvested and cold-pressed by ourselves. Our farm mainly grows olives of the local variety “Bosana,” alongside the varieties “Leccino” and “Frantoio.”
These three olive varieties are blended to create the special taste of Stella Maris Olive Oil.
The landscape.
Rolling hills covered with macchia, pine and olive trees.
A gentle breeze from the sea.
The unique landscape also gives Stella Maris Olive Oil its genuine taste.
Patience & respect.
Stella Maris co-founder Francesco is our farm’s manager. With patience, expertise and respect for nature he treats each tree individually.
After the farm lay fallow for more than ten years, we revived the abandoned field and founded Stella Maris. Thanks to Francesco’s persistence, he successfully managed to revive it.
The harvest.
Because harvesting is about speed, freshly picked olives are immediately taken to the frantoio (oil mill). When the olives are ripe, the entire field is harvested within a few days. The quicker the olives are taken to the mill, the better the oil tastes.
Air, sun, sea.
Clean air, sun, and the sea – along with Francesco’s patience – are the essential ingredients of our olive oil.
Qualità Ambientale Rete Dei Parchi E Delle Aree Protette
Our olive farm is surrounded by the “Parco Naturale di Porto Conte,” where strict regulations apply to agricultural enterprises. We have been certified to comply with these statutes.
In 2022, Stella Maris Società Agricola SRL was awarded the environmental protection seal by the “Quality Network of Nature Parks and Protected Areas,” a valuable recognition for implementing specific environmental and socio- economic standards.
